Water your wheatgrass until your dirt gets nice and most. Try to water it gently. Cover your wheatgrass with newspaper that has been sprayed with water. If you live in a dry climate, put a piece of plastic on top to keep the moisture in. Keep the tray in a dark cool location.
Once the shoots reach about an inch, remove the newspaper and place it by a window or outside, but make sure that they do not get too hot or dry out. It takes about 7 days from planting to harvesting when it is 6-7 inches tall, do not let it grow too long. Be sure to water it every day.
